Few finance-related disciplines rely on networking as much as mergers and acquisitions. The most successful M&A practitioners all have one thing in a common: access to a solid network. M&A conferences offer a shortcut to achieving this, providing attendees with face-to-face meetings with some of the most active practitioners today.

Although Coronavirus has taken its toll on several events in 2020, there’s a good chance that as social isolation is eased, most of the M&A Conferences that we’ve compiled below will go ahead as planned with some precautionary measures. We believe each one offers something valuable to everyone operating in the sphere of mergers and acquisitions.

M&A Science - Virtual Summit

There’s no excuse to miss the 2020 M&A Science conference as it’s been designed as a virtual summit. Speakers include the VPs and Corporate Development Directors from an illustrious range of companies that includes Microsoft, Caterpillar, Atlas Copco, Cisco and Google. The aim of the conference is to show how the best M&A practitioners in the world are infusing the process with science. The online ‘fireside chats’ and roundtable format means that the distance between you and the keynote speakers is reduced, and everyone can enjoy a beverage thanks to the virtual happy hour. This is what the future of M&A conferences looks like.

AM&AA Summer Conference

Accordingly, there’s no shortage of experience on show at their annual event, from small cap right all the way to the large cap deal specialists. This year’s event includes sessions such as “The Human Side of Due Diligence,” “Tech Trends in M&A” and “Entrepreneurship Through Acquisitions: Emerging Trends.” There’s ample opportunity for networking with several coffee breaks spread throughout each day of the conference.

TMT M&A Forum 2020

As the name suggests, this conference focuses its gaze on M&A activity in the TMT (telecommunications, media and technology) space. With $660 billion of M&A activity in the sector in 2019, it’s no surprise the sector has a conference all of its own. 75 speakers have already been announced, including C-level and MDs from blue chip companies like Verizon, KKR, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners. The maximum of 250 attendees gives the conference an intimacy that can sometimes be missing over the larger conferences which are spread over a few days.

Tickets price: from $2,395

Dates: September 30, 2020

8th European Corporate M&A Conference

This popular M&A conference, usually held in Q2 of each year was postponed for six months as social isolation came into effect across Europe. Although its location means that it isn’t easily accessible to most US-based M&A practitioners, it does at least provide free access to corporates, allowing many to offset the flight price against what registration costs for other events. The focus on European M&A also provides an interesting slant for anybody considering transactions at that side of the pond.

Dates: October 20, 2020.
