Kison Patel is the Founder and CEO of DealRoom, a Chicago-based diligence management software that uses Agile principles to innovate and modernize the finance industry. As a former M&A advisor with over a decade of experience, Kison developed DealRoom after seeing first hand a number of deep-seated, industry-wide structural issues and inefficiencies.
Few finance-related disciplines rely on networking as much as mergers and acquisitions. The most successful M&A practitioners all have one thing in common: access to a solid network.
M&A conferences offer a shortcut to achieving this, providing attendees with face-to-face meetings with some of the most active practitioners today.
With the Covid-19 pandemic appearing to be approaching its long-awaited end, the hope is that many of the biggest M&A events will return to business-as-usual.
DealRoom will monitor the upcoming events and add to our list as soon as they will be announced and below, we look at some of the biggest M&A events for 2023,

1. M&A Science Spring Summit 2023
It’s time for new M&A ideas to bloom. Sourcing a deal that is quick to diligence and easy to integrate feels like searching for a four-leaf clover. Register for M&A Science Spring Summit of March 2023 and become your company’s M&A good luck charm.
Come and learn new M&A tips and techniques that will leave you feeling like you just found a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.
During the summit, hear from experts in internal diligence, careers in corporate development, M&A landscapes, M&A law, and private equity trends, such as Pat Belotti, M&A Integration expert, previously at Cisco, Microsoft, and Zendesk, among others.
The AM&AA Winter Conference is the first of 2023, and usually considered one that shouldn’t be missed. The conference has a history of delivering outstanding educational content and networking opportunities, usually in a prestigious setting. The subject matter hasn’t yet been released for 2023, but is generally topical and informative.
Ticket price: $1,195 ($895 for members)
Date: February 8 & 9, 2023
Location: The Vinoy Renaissance, St. Petersburg, FL.
This conference, hosted by Transaction Advisors, is one of the first high-profile M&A conference of 2023, and is aimed solely at everybody - from corporate development executives to private equity professionals - with M&A on their agenda. The conference runs over two days and covers a range of relevant subject matter.
Topics covered this year include: seeking synergy, optimizing M&A pipelines, demonstrations in the latest M&A technology, and divestiture obligation. The conference also features what looks like an interesting presentation, titled: “welcome to the era of conditional transactions.” The first day includes a wine reception, which gives an excellent opportunity for networking.
With technology stocks facing unprecedented headwinds, insights from the January 2023 edition of the TMT World Congress cannot come soon enough. With over 100 speakers, the conference offers an unrivalled opportunity to get a handle on M&A developments in digital infrastructure, telecoms, cloud and software.
The conference is structured to offer a flexible range of options for attendees, including everything from CEO fireside chats to breakout roundtable sessions. Although subjects have not yet been disclosed, speakers for 2023 include Dharm Sury, Head of Datacenter Development in Europe at Brookfield, and Oliver Bradley, Managing Director of Digital Infra Investing at Macquarie Capital,
2022 sees the return of the Merger Integration conference to face-to-face format. With an event location in the heart of Manhattan, just a few blocks from Wall Street, it’s sure to attract many of the great and the good who’ve been hiding away for the past 24 months.
Topics this year include best practice in deal performance reviews, Establishing deal thesis and transaction objectives with the sponsoring business, and Managing the friction between quality and speed in M&A – managing a “just get it done” culture.
The price and the lead sponsor, McKinsey, both point to an excellent opportunity for networking with the M&A community.
Although many of the details have yet to be ironed out for this year’s AMAA Summer Conference, the good news is that it too returns to in-person format.
The call for speakers is still out, but if previous years are anything to go by, this promises to be one of the M&A events of the year.
This conference is focused on the lower middle market. Spread over three days in total, it is set to feature a range of keynote speakers and excellent opportunities for networking, particularly in the M&A workshops that follow the speakers.
Although not one of the most high-profile conferences, M&A source is usually well attended by M&A practitioners in this end of the market.
Remove: Intralinks Summit (still no sign of it on the horizon).
