General Job Description

DealRoom is seeking a Lead UX Designer to help us discover and solve customer problems better, make our product simple and scalable, and speed up the whole team by enabling autonomy and collaboration. You’ll turn strategy into clear navigation, reusable patterns, and measurable outcomes—so teams can ship faster with confidence.

At DealRoom, UX are system builders. You’ll model how the product hangs together, own the design system that everyone uses, and align PM, Engineering, and Marketing around one experience. Your impact shows up in clearer wins for customers & outcomes for DealRoom.

Who are we?

DealRoom is a dynamic FinTech innovator revolutionizing the Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) landscape. We're transforming complex financial processes with cutting-edge technology, and we're looking for passionate trailblazers to join our high-energy team. If you thrive on challenges and want to make a tangible impact in finance, DealRoom offers an exhilarating career launchpad. We're not just changing the game – we're redefining it.

Why was DealRoom started?

Founded in 2012 in Chicago by former M&A advisor Kison Patel, DealRoom addresses technological gaps hindering deal success in the financial industry. With a client-oriented culture, DealRoom has grown to 50+ employees, remains self-funded, and is expanding rapidly. Our growth encompasses both DealRoom's software solutions and the M&A Science Podcast, which recently celebrated its 300th podcast episode!

Core Responsibilities:

  • User & customer understanding — Turn research into a clear picture of who we serve and their top jobs so priorities are obvious and scope stays tight.
  • Systems thinking & information architecture — Map our users, data, and tasks. Set simple navigation and page types that scale so new features fit naturally and people find what they need fast.
  • User flows & states — Design end-to-end flows, including empty/error states and recovery steps so engineers can build confidently and users don’t hit dead ends.
  • Design system stewardship — Build the AI design→code practice; you focus on problem definition with Product and high-level direction while AI drafts screens. Lead Figma→code with Engineering; version, migrate, deprecate—so teams reuse, ship faster, and break less.
  • Evidence-backed product sense — Start with outcomes, decide how we’ll measure them, and make the smallest change that moves the needle so we learn quickly and improve what matters (e.g., time to value, task success).
  • Collaboration & influence — Bring partners in early, align on shared names and patterns, and standardize the path from marketing to product so launches feel seamless and trade-offs are clear.

Benefits & Culture:

  • Generous equity options
  • 100% individual / 60% family insurance coverage
  • Competitive benefits including 401(k)+matching, Healthcare, Dental, and Vision plans
  • $500 Annual AI Stipend
  • Boston-based hybrid model (T-T In Office / M & F WFH)
  • $300 Monthly Commute Stipend
  • DealRoom is committed to providing all team members a truly unique experience with the opportunity for involvement in all dimensions of running and growing our business.
  • Opportunity to work in a fast-moving, high-growth SaaS company
  • Company paid laptop
